In a meeting held yesterday, Amhara Regional State Council made appointments based on proposals from the head the regional state,Gedu Andargachew.
Amhara Mass Media Agency (AMMA) report, published yesterday, says La’ake Ayalew is named as deputy head of the regional state.
Gen. Asamnew Tsige, who has been in jail for more than nine years on grounds of alleged coup d’état attempt, is named as head of peace and security office in the region.
Former Head of Communications, Nigussu Tilahun, is given the responsibility to head the region’s culture and tourism office, and he will be serving in a rank of deputy head of the regional state, indicates the report by AMMA.
As well, Melaku Alebel is appointed to lead, in the rank of deputy head of the region, Industry and Investment Development Office.
The rest of the appointments include Bosena Tegenge (head of department of Agriculture), Shambel Kebede (Technic and Vocational Enterprises Development Office), Bezuayehu Biyazen (Revenue office), Firde Cheru (Prosecutor office), Asnaku Dires (Women, Children and Youth office) and Mulunesh Abebe (Labour and Social Affairs office)
In a related development, the regional state 11th congress has approved the appointment of fifteen judges who are poised to work in different parts of the region.
