Eight people are killed, and six others wounded this morning in Lalibela town, North Central Ethiopia, during an attempt to diffuse a fight between two individuals, reported Amhara Mass Media Agency (AMMA) which cited police sources from the town.
They were killed when a man fired at them and the incident happened in Kebele Zero-One locality in the town.
Identity of the killer is not disclosed. And it is not clear either as to what ignited the conflict.
Those wounded are currently in hospital. AMMA did not mention if their conditions are life-threatening.
The person who carried out the killing is in police custody and is under investigation, Commander Meseret La’ake, Amhara Region’s police media coordinator, is cited as saying.
