Federal Attorney general charged former director of Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC), Kinfe Dagnaw, and eight others over squandering 319 billion Ethiopian Birr, according to government affiliated media Fana Broadcasting Corporation(FBC).
They appeared at the 15th criminal Bench in Addis Ababa. Brig. General Tena Kundir, Colonel Desse Zeleke, Colonel Getnet Gudya, Colonel Goitom Kebede, Chernet Dana, Eleni Berhan and Romedan Mussa are in the list. Three of the defendants are charged in absentia.
Conducting procurement without proper and transparent tender procedure, denying suppliers equal opportunity and misusing power are listed in the charge.
Defendants requested for time to prepare their response for the charges and they are to appear in two weeks.
