Ethiopia seem to be in intersting time in that leaders of political parties used to make news for leaving Ethiopia. Now they are making news for returning to the country.

Brigadier General Hailu Gonfa, leader of United Oromo Liberation Front, and Aba Nega Jara, his colleague, returned to Ethiopia in an expressed response to prime minister Abiy Ahmed’s call for peace.

The organization took the path of armed struggle to achieve its goal in the past but it announced that it is now resorting to peaceful strugle – seemingly the reason why the leaders are in Ethiopia.

The movement also unveiled interest in working with political parties and government while pursing its goal.

They were recived upon arrival high ranking government official from the department of Communication Affairs, according to a report by state media.

It was Oromo Democratic Frot (ODD), whose leaders are among the pioneers of ethinc politics in Ethiopia over forty years ago, that returned to Ethioia at the end of May for an alleged dialogue with the government.

Yesterday, council of ministers of Abiy Ahmed cabinet passed decision to remove three political organizations from terrorist list in the country. And one of them is Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) which is expected to return to the country.
