Noting the resignation of Hailemariam Desalegn, the United States’ embassy in Ethiopia thinks the “political development may lead to unpredictable security issues.”
The embassy expressed thew view in a security alert issued today on its website.
Also, the embassy warned staff that “all travel for embassy personnel outside of Addis Ababa must have advance Embassy approval.” Further more, the security alert advised staff and citizens to avoid large gatherings and demonstrations and monitor local media, among other recommendations.
