Fano and Querroo, Youth movements in Amhara and Oromo regions of Ethiopia, respectively, reportedly co-planned three days of protest starting Monday, February 12, 2018.
It will mainly take the form of a stay at home protest and businesses in cities and towns across the regions are expected to remain closed.
Organizers have circulated warnings on social media that transportation from place to place is expected to remain standstill and those who ignore it, according to the organizers, could cause damage to their property.
The youth movements in Ethiopia’s two largest regions are clandestinely organized and there appears to be a plan to take spread the movement in all parts of Ethiopia according to an informant who spoke to Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT)
Meanwhile, there was a reported grenade attack in Debark town of Gonder region today around 9:45 pm local time. Social media sources who claim to have credible information from the town say that the target was Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) office. These sources added that the attack was carried out by Ethiopian National Party – apparently a newly formed clandestine party. At this writing, no human casualty is reported.
We will update readers as more information becomes available.
