Twenty-seven Ethiopians are reportedly arrested on Friday in Saudi Arabia over what Arab News described as “labor, residency violations.”
Fourteen of the arrests are women while the rest are men according to the news source which cited Saudi security forces in Wadi, Al-Dawasir region.
Based on the report, Saudi security personnel under Colonel Mohammed Abdul Aziz Al-Salhi conducted a raid in the province.
However, the news source did not identify as to what “labor and residency violations” were.
It is to be recalled that Saudi government passed decree demanding migrant workers with no permits to leave the kingdom during the three months amnesty period that it announced which was extended this month.
An estimated 500,000 Ethiopian migrants live in Saudi Arabia.
