Five passengers are killed in South Western Ethiopia in what seem to be planned attack on a bus, reported state media citing police source. Nine other passengers are wounded and taken to Gambella Hospital. The bus was travelling between Gambella city and and Metar town.
The attack happened 60 kilometers outside of Gambella. The assailants are not identified, added the report.
The bus caught fire when the attackers fired to the gas tanker. The victims were apparently killed with fire inside the car.
The report added that police is searching for assailants. Gambella is one of the regions in Ethiopia where armed groups sporadically challenge the regime in Ethiopia in retaliation for policies many describe as discriminatory in favor of pro-Tigray People’s Liberation Front government.
